Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data private?

Your data is private and will never be shared or sold by Aimee Says. We know the confidentiality of your private information is critical and have taken the proper steps to ensure Aimee Says employees cannot access to information you submit to Aimee with the exception of the name and email address you provide upon sign up. See our privacy policy for more details.

Is Aimee real?

Aimee is an AI-trained and supported companion built through a combination of human engineering and artificial intelligence. While she can seem very real, she is ultimately a robot with human skills. She is programmed to understand intimate partner abuse in all its forms so she can help you understand your options and support you on your journey to healing and safety.

Can Aimee be wrong?

Like a human, Aimee can make errors. These errors can be interpretive, where she misunderstands the context, or factual, where she incorrectly states information. Rarely, Aimee may also hallucinate, presenting non-existent facts as real. Always apply your own judgment to what Aimee has to say and consult a professional where necessary.

What can I ask Aimee?

You can ask Aimee anything related to your needs, recovery and support in the context of a controlling current or ex partner. It can be about past experiences, future worries, current challenges, preparation for litigation and more. She's here to help you think through your options and to provide understanding and support.

How should I talk to Aimee?

You can talk to Aimee like you would to anyone, without having to worry that you are taking up too much time, sharing too much, or otherwise "inconveniencing" her. If she doesn't respond in the right way, you can tell her you need something different or want her to focus on something else. She's there to help you, and what that help looks like is defined by you.

See our Prompt Engineering Guide for more ideas.

How does Aimee work?

Aimee uses a variety of information and tools to understand and respond to victim-survivors. First, she listens to what people say and tries to understand their experiences. Just like when you talk to a friend or counselor, the Aimee pays attention to what's being shared. This involves recognizing keywords, context, and emotions expressed in the text.

Once the input is understood, the Aimee generates appropriate responses based on the information you provide and pre-existing knowledge about relationship abuse we have provided to her. This knowledge is extensive, and includes common signs of abuse, safety precautions, available resources, and strategies for seeking safety and healing.

Aimee operates within ethical guidelines, ensuring that the support provided is respectful, empathetic, confidential and non-judgmental. Aimee is designed to prioritize the well-being and safety of the individuals she interacts with.

What technology does Aimee Use?

Aimee utilizes multiple technologies to generate her responses, with the Large Language Model (LLM) being the most prominent. LLMs work by analyzing vast amounts of text to learn patterns and relationships in language, enabling them to generate coherent and contextually relevant responses. Aimee has additional training in relationship abuse and coercive control.

Is the model trained on my data?

No. No user data is used to train Aimee or our AI partner model. Please see our privacy policy for additional details.

What if my abuser can still see my credit card expenses?

Your safety is our #1 priority. Subscriber credit card statements will show a charge from "AIMEE." If a person threatening your safety has access to your credit card or bank statements, consider asking a friend if they will allow you to use their card, or tell your DV advocate to contact us about other options.

Is my Aimee account discoverable?

Some users may be concerned about their ex requesting the contents of their Aimee account in formal discovery. We have not heard of this happening, and it is yet to be seen if courts will find that AI chats are relevant. Best practice is to be discreet about using Aimee. You may be able to create attorney-client privilege by making your attorney a Team member.

Is my account secure?

Yes, all upgraded accounts can enable multi-factor authentication for added security. To learn more, visit our MFA page.
