Multi-Factor Authentication

We take your security and privacy seriously, which is why we offer multi-factor authentication (MFA) to every subscriber. MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring you to verify your identity through an authenticator app when logging in.

While optional, MFA is highly encouraged, particularly for those at risk of digital surveillance, as it significantly boosts your account's security.

What is MFA?

MFA makes an account more secure by requiring a second confirmation of your identity through an authenticator app when logging in.

Getting Started with MFA

1. Download an Authenticator App: Install an app like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo, or similar on your phone. If you already have one, you can use it.

2. Access Security Settings: Visit your account settings by clicking the gear icon in the chat window and navigating to the Security tab, or go directly to Account Security.

3. Confirm Your Credentials: Authenticate with Magic Link or your password.

4. Enable MFA: Click "Set up 2-Factor Authenticator App" and follow one of these methods:

For a different device: Scan the QR code with the authenticator app, validate the connection, and enter the 6-digit code from the app.

For the same device: Copy the key, manually set up the authenticator app with the key, validate the connection, and enter the code.

Logging in with MFA

Once enabled, MFA will confirm your login daily. After entering your username and password, open your authenticator app, select Aimee Says, and enter the 6-digit code. Codes refresh every 30 seconds, so act promptly.

Troubleshooting MFA

Lost Authenticator App: If you lose access to your authenticator app, please contact us at Aimee@AimeeSays.com for assistance.

The Code isn't Working: This can be caused be several different issues.

1. If the 30 second timer expires before you enter the code, it will not connect. Wait for a new code to appear then try again.

2. MFA is time based. If your system's clock is manually set or isn't in sync with UTC, it can prevent your login. Set your device to automatically update the time to fix this issue.

3. Confirm that you are entering the code that is assigned to Aimee Says.

Turning Off MFA: Revisit the Security tab, authenticate, and disable MFA.
